'Qissa: Memories with My Heritage' organized by EPWG, ICOMOS India

Date: 30 Apr 2020 | Online

As part of International Day for Monuments and Sites 2020, the 15-day-long campaign titled 'Qissa: Memories with My Heritage' organized by EPWG, ICOMOS India came to an end on 30th April 2020. Colleagues, friends and heritage enthusiasts from different parts of the world shared close to 300 heritage-related memories through a variety of mediums like photos, sketches, archival documents, videos, paintings, music clips and doodles.

With this overwhelming response, the campaign has been successful in creating heritage awareness as well as evoking community participation.

The most interesting outcome of this initiative is that it brought to surface the dynamic nature of 'memory' manifested in cultural, social and personal experiences of diverse identities and across different time periods.

In this catalogue-report, EPWG has attempted to compile the entries received during this campaign to show how different dimensions of heritage like historic buildings, folklore, culinary delights, archives, texts and social practices all contribute to form 'cultural memory'.
