ICOMOS iNDIA Annual General Meeting Scientific Symposium 2020

Date: 22 May 2020 | Zoom Platform

The ICOMOS India Scientific Symposium 2020 was organised and successfully conducted during 22nd and 23rd May 2020 by ICOMOS India, in collaboration with IIT Chennai and NCSHS. This virtual confluence of 113 participants, focused on the key thematic area of Structural & Material Analysis in Built Heritage Conservation.”

Day 1 of the Symposium started with the Inaugural session with Prof. GSV Suryanarayana Murthy addressing the participants and Prof. Kiran Joshi and Dr. Ravindra Gettu sharing their understanding in context with the symposium theme. This was followed by 14 meticulous research works presented under sub-themes. The proceeding was managed by 3-panel chairs, who were assisted by 3 rapporteurs from the EPWG group.

Day-2 proceedings incorporated 13 presentations from the speakers under sub-themes. An ardent team of 3-panel chairs and 3 rapporteurs, helped in regulating the sessions. The Q/A session, and a summary of each session by the respective panel chairs, provided a window to access the potential way forwards for each topic. This was followed by reflections from the EPWG National representative, Ritika Khanna and Vice-President Gurmeet Rai. A set of 5 papers each were recognised as “Best Papers” and another awarded “Special Mentions.” The event concluded with closing remarks by Prof. GSV Suryanarayana Murthy and Dr. Arun Menon who were the torchbearers for the entire Scientific Symposium.
