Pre-activity webinar of ICOMOS India Training and Capacity Building Programme to be held on 04th and 05th January 2022. The activity is based on the settlement study “Comprehensive study of heritage settlements in the Western Ghats” at Kudase village -Tillari.
The activity is initiated by ICOMOS India West Zone, National Scientific Committee on Historic Towns and Villages (NSC HTV) and supported by the NSC Education and Training, NSC Cultural Landscapes (NSC CL) and EPWG of ICOMOS India. The activity further aims to conduct fieldwork, which is proposed in collaboration with SMEF's Brick School of Architecture in Pune, India.
This study is split into three parts. The first part consists of a pre-activity webinar proposed on 29th December, 4th, and 5th January, in order to grasp broader concepts of natural heritage and settlements in ecological contexts. This will be followed by the actual fieldwork from the 7th to the 11th of January 2022, concluded by a post-activity that will cover major documentation in the form of publication.

Experts:
GSV Suryanarayana Murthy is a practicing Conservation Architect who is currently working as a Professor of Architecture at JBR College of Architecture, Hyderabad. He is an Independent Consultant in the field of Architecture, Conservation, Planning, and Urban Design. He is the proprietor of organizations namely KSHETRA and IHSRDM.
He is currently South Zone Representative of ICOMOS India. He is also Co-Coordinator of NSC on Cultural Landscapes of ICOMOS India.

Dr. Vaishali Prasad Latkar is an academician and practicing Conservation Architect based in Pune. Presently she heads the department of M.Arch in Architectural Conservation at Sinhgad College Of Architecture, Pune. She has completed a Doctorate in architecture with a focus on the built heritage of pilgrimage towns from Savitribai Phule Pune University. She is also a member of the Board of Studies in Architecture at Savitribai Phule Pune University She is coordinating the National Scientific Committee of Education and Training of ICOMOS India and is a member of the International Scientific committee CIF of ICOMOS.
Topic: Exploring methods to document tangible intangible heritage
Ar. Onkar Khebudkar is a landscape architect. He is affiliated as an associate professor at Smt. Kashibai Navale College of Architecture, Pune. He is an academician and practicing landscape architect for the last 16 years. His interest areas are theatre, film, and ecology. His interest in the environment and ecology lead him to study the Tillari region for his master's thesis. Where he has mapped conflict areas between humans and wildlife around the settlements in and around Tillari conservation reserve.

Ms. Saili Palande Datar is Ideologist, a Historical researcher, and Ecologist. She is connected with many groups in the field of heritage and ecology. She is Vice President Malabar Nature Conservation Club and a Member of, Kalpavriksh Environmental Action group.
Topic: Association of Cultural Heritage & communities in Konkan
Ar. Saranya Dharshini, EPWG National Representative, ICOMOS India
For over a decade, Saranya has dedicated her research efforts, pedagogical métier, and professional career to cultural heritage. She is a Conservation Architect and her professional experience ranges from medieval forts, Dravidian temples to ecclesiastical buildings anchored in community development and the culture-nature approach.
