Rediscovering Modern Heritage through Climate Resilience and Sustainability: Case of Chandigarh and Ahmedabad

In celebration of the International Day for Monuments and Sites (World Heritage Day) 2022 and the theme ‘Heritage and Climate’, ICOMOS India, Chitkara School of Planning & Architecture (CSPA, CU) & Center for Heritage Conservation (CHC, CEPT University) are pleased to invite all for the event, ‘Rediscovering Modern Heritage through Climate Resilience and Sustainability: Case of Chandigarh and Ahmedabad’ on 18th and 19th April 2022.

 

The event being jointly organized by CSPA and CEPT will be an opportunity to discuss the theme of modern heritage in Chandigarh and Ahmedabad, two cities in India with exemplary twentieth heritage, where both the universities are located, through the lens of climate resilience and sustainability. The event aims to delve into a meaningful discourse on appreciating the role of cultural heritage conservation as a necessary tool for climate adaptation and sustainable development. The focus of the presentations and discussions will be towards climate related issues, questions of long-term sustainability of modern heritage and the necessary responses of conservation management frameworks.

 

The event is supported by ICOMOS India National Scientific Committee on Twentieth Century Heritage (NSC-20C) and Climate Change and Heritage Working Group (CCH-WG).
