Reducing Risk, Raising Resilience

Date: 17 Sep 2021 | online
The North Zone of ICOMOS India in association with ICOMOS Canada is pleased to announce an online lecture on  "Reducing Risk, Raising Resilience: Recovering the Public Spaces of Shahjahanabad through Participatory Conservation and Ecological Urbanism", by Professor Mario Santana Quintero, to be held on 17th September 2021 at 9.30 AM EST.

Dr. Santana’s research interest involves the digital advancement workflows for recording buildings in 3D with a high resolution of detail; this is essential for better characterizing existing buildings and implementing tailored rehabilitation, adaptive use, maintenance and sustainability approaches. He is the secretary-general of the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS).

The discussion aims to speak about documentation of historic buildings through photogrammetry and scanning, and overall remote site reconnaissance of monuments and historic fabric during the pandemic.

The event is based on the need to find methods for remote learning and further investigate the role of the field of digital documentation for ensuring that any intervention in historic areas is done with a detailed reference to the context. This lecture will be with special emphasis on Shahjahanabad.
