This year ICOMOS India’s Scientific Symposium is being organized on the theme of Cultural Landscapes and Emerging Transformations on the 19th and 20th of November 2021 in collaboration with our institutional partner, Faculty of Architecture and Planning, AKTU, Lucknow.

The Scientific Symposium will delve into the idea of ‘cultural landscapes’, their evolution, present day manifestations, reinforcing the idea of dynamism of cultural landscape, and its future pathways through case studies from India and around the world. A special focus of the symposium will be an exploration of this theme in the Indian context, highlighting archaeological, anthropological, ecological, spiritual, mythological and cultural dimensions. In terms of contemporary relevance, the philosophy, practice and management of cultural landscapes will be assessed in terms of performance in relation to the impact of climate change, sustainability and development.We have invited eminent domain experts as Keynote Speakers and session Chairs, details of whom will be shared shortly on our social media platforms. The shortlisted 40+ papers will be presented during the event along with intermittent networking sessions.
