The books of Agar-bark leaf are a unique Intangible Heritage of Assam. In Assam, the holy-book, Books of Ayurved, Books of Elephant / Horse treatment, History and others wrote and preserved in the Agar-bark leaf was a tradition. In the environment of Assam, Agar or ?âshi Tree is easily cultivated. The leaf is prepared from the hardwood of the Agar tree and then treatment is given in the same for insect’s attack in near future. Hangul, Hiatal & other natural colours used to decorate the pictures. The ink used on it prepared from Hortaki, juice of earthworm, dews & others. Photograph & VDO were recorded at Auniati Sattra, Majuli, Assam (26.939561, 94.122301) and the craftsperson's name is Shri Drun Pathak.
