MAATI Convention 2025: Heritage Undiscovered – Debating the Unrecognised MAATI is proud to present the MAATI Convention 2025, in collaboration with ICICH-ICOMOS as our knowledge partner. The proceedings and research papers from this convention will be published in Volume 2, Issue 1 of MAATI KATHA Magazine. About the Convention The MAATI Convention 2025 revolves around a fundamental question: What should be considered heritage, and why? While many sites and traditions receive formal recognition, numerous others remain overlooked despite their cultural, historical, or social significance. This convention aims to initiate critical discussions on heritage recognition, shedding light on lesser-known examples that deserve attention. Through paper presentations, debates, and collaborative discussions, we will explore the complexities of identifying, documenting, and conserving both recognised and unrecognised heritage. ???? Objectives of the Convention Challenge existing frameworks of heritage recognition by examining biases, overlooked histories, and intangible cultural practices. Address modern challenges such as urbanisation, globalisation, and climate change. Foster interdisciplinary collaboration among architects, conservators, historians, and policymakers. Draft inclusive policies and frameworks for broader and more equitable heritage conservation. ???? Convention Structure The event will feature paper presentations across eight sub-themes, followed by moderated debates on critical issues. The final day will focus on a collaborative policy development session, where experts and participants will draft actionable guidelines for future heritage conservation efforts. Special Guests Chief Guest: Prof. Neelkanth Chhaya Keynote Speaker: Prof. Dr. Navin Piplani ICICH Delegate: Ana Lucia Gonzalez Ibanez Guests of Honor: Saleem Beg, Dr. Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti, Dr. Mohammad Farhan Fazli, Gurmeet Sangha Rai, Dr. Rima Hooja, Dr. Ajay Khare, Dr. Mahua Mukherjee, Dr. Venugopal B., Dr. Mrinalini Atrey, Ananya Bhattacharya, Dr. Shikha Jain, Dr. Nisar Khan, Dr. Niyati Jigyasu, Ashish Trambadia, Divay Gupta, Annabel Lopez, Dilip Changkakoty, Prof. GSV Suryanarayana Murthy, Xavier Benedict, Poonam Trambadia, Dr. Molly Kaushal ????
