The Drum called “Dholak”, a unique percussion instrument played only in the “Apsárâ Dance” of Auniati Sattra, Majuli, Assam. The Drum player is a Bhakat (devotee follower) designated as “Bayan” means percussionist. The name of the percussionist is Shri Bodan Chandra Bora. He played the “Dhárá?”, means “catching the Dance”; which is performed in “Ektâlá”. There are 8 mâtrâs followed by 2 Beats and 2 Empty Beats in this Sattriya Ektâlá of Auniati Sattra. It is also observed that the blueprint of the compositions of Bols followed having a touch of 16th Century practice in the Angkik percussion instrument of North & Eastern Reason of India. The percussion is accompanied by two cymbals. The Cymbal made by bell metal. These two cymbals played by Shri Bishnu Bora Bayan (right) and Shri Jayanta Saikia (left).
